Why BBQ Lamb Scottadito Works
Flavor: The lamb chops are typically marinated with herbs, garlic, lemon, and olive oil, which infuse the meat with a rich, aromatic flavor. Grilling adds a smoky, charred taste that enhances the overall profile.
Tenderness: Lamb chops are naturally tender, and the marination process helps to further tenderize the meat, making it succulent and juicy when grilled.
Cultural Experience: “Scottadito” means “burned fingers” in Italian, referring to the way these chops are traditionally eaten—hot off the grill, often with your fingers. This adds an authentic and interactive element to the dining experience.
Health Benefits: Lamb is a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. When cooked properly, it can be a healthy and nutritious part of your diet.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
- 2-3 chili peppers (I used Fresno peppers)
- 6-8 garlic cloves rough chopped
- 7-8 lamb chops
- 2 lemons sliced
- 6-8 rosemary sprigs
- 1/2 tablespoon of salt, pepper, & garlic seasoning
- 1 tablespoon of Italian herb seasoning
- 1/2 tablespoon of lemon pepper seasoning

Lamb Prep
Prepare the Marinade: First, add 1 ½ cups of olive oil to a mixing bowl. Add your rough chopped garlic to the oil
Season The Oil: Add your SPG and Italian Herb seasoning to the oil and mix. Drizzle the infused olive oil in a deep dish tray
Marinate the Lamb Chops: Place your lamb chops on top of the marinade.
Add Chili Peppers and Rosemary: After that, add 1-2 sliced chili peppers for a touch of heat and 2-3 sprigs of rosemary for an aromatic herb infusion. Place lemon slices between some of the bones
Mix and Refrigerate: Mix the chops around to ensure they are well coated with the marinade. Then, place in your refrigerator for 2-3 hours, mixing the chops around every 45 minutes to evenly distribute the flavors.

Preheat the Grill: Meanwhile, set up your grill for high heat grilling.
Remove from Marinade: After marinating, remove the lamb chops from the oil mixture.
Pat Dry & Season Lightly: Pat the lamb chops dry and season lightly with lemon pepper seasoning

Cooking Process
Grill the Lamb Chops: Place the lamb chops on the hot grill. Flip every 3 minutes to develop a nice crust on both sides.

Check Temperature: Continue grilling until the internal temperature of the lamb chops reaches 135 degrees Fahrenheit(57°C) for medium-rare.
Rest and Garnish: Remove the lamb chops from the grill and place them in a serving dish. Garnish with fresh lemon slices, chili peppers, and rosemary sprigs.
Drizzle and Serve: Finally, drizzle some olive oil & lemon juice over the top and enjoy your delicious, perfectly grilled lamb chops
By following these steps, you’ll create a mouthwatering dish that’s sure to impress your guests. Perfect for any special occasion or dinner party!
